Clubhouse, Alangilan and Batangas Sports Complex, Batangas City now serving as one of the primary evacuation center in the City since Taal phreatic explosion last Jan 12, 2010. This is Batangas PNPs’ simple way of giving Psychological First-Aid to the evacuees. The Batangas PNP led by PCOL EDWIN A QUILATES in coordination with the Arms of Love Foundation led by Sister Leona Villareal proceeded to Batangas City Sports Complex and organized the children as part of the conduct of Psychosocial activities being implemented by the Police Community Affairs and Development Branch of

this headquarters. The children were grouped according to ages. Babies and infants were given disposable diapers and those who are from 4-7 years old were made to attend a lecture (review on the Alphabet, Parts of the body, Shapes and Colors, etc) and participated in parlor games and coloring activities. While those from 8 years old and above were asked to help in the cleanliness of the surroundings of the Evacuation Center with a corresponding P20.00 per sack of litter. After which, a zumba dance was also initiated by the Philippine Coast Guard, Provincial LGU and Batangas PNP.

On the other hand, several film showings were also made in different evacuation centers in the Province by members of the Batangas Provincial Force Company.

All these activities were made to give a sense of normalcy, sense of safety and security to the children despite their current situation in the evacuation centers and entertain, ease the stress and help the evacuees cope with their problems that may help facilitate emotional and psychological healing.###
