Security Guards Caught Red handed taking Relief Goods in Evacuation Center

Three security guards were caught in the act of stealing relief goods at about 6:00AM of January 21, 2020 at Batangas Provincial Sports Complex evacuation center, Brgy Sta Rita, Batangas City.

The police identified the security guards as Junel Roda Romano, 21 years old, single and resident of Brgy Calicanto, Batangas City, Johnson Rey Rollo Manimtim, 29 years old, single and resident of Brgy Calicanto, Batangas City, and Junito Pacatang Mañabo, 32 years old, single, and resident of Brgy. Tingga Labac, Batangas City.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Batangas City Police Station, at about 6:00 AM of January 21, 2020, suspects carried away 127 pieces of Lucky Me assorted noodles amounting to Php1,905.00 placed inside 2 paper boxes; 74 pieces of assorted sardines amounting to Php1, 628.00 placed in one paper box; 19 pieces of assorted Nissin cup noodles amounting to Php475.00; 12 plastic bags of rice amounting to Php1, 320.00 placed in one color brown eco bag and 15 pieces of assorted garments amounting to Php1, 500.00, all totaling to Php6, 828.00. They are now facing charges of qualified theft.

This is a stern warning especially to everyone in control of these relief goods that these goods should be handled and accounted properly and shall be distributed appropriately to those who were affected by Taal Volcano eruption. Anyone violating will be held liable and be subjected to the penalties as prescribed in Section 19 of Republic Act 10121 also known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Act of 2010. Under this law, prohibited acts include diverting or misdelivery of relief goods, equipment or other aid commodities; and accepting, possessing, using or disposing relief goods, equipment or other aid commodities not intended for nor consigned to him/her.###piobatangaspnp
